The Black Women's Arts Festival a.k.a. BWAF Philly is an organization promoting the multi-media visual, performance, and literary works of Black women and girls (including crafts, vending, and workshops). Creating venues and other commercial opportunities for Black female artists and craftswomen of all genres, the Black Women's Arts Festival remains the only organization of its kind in the world. The Festival was founded in 2003 by Cassendre Xavier a.k.a. Amethyste Rah, an award-winning multi-media artist and community organizer.
