He played major junior in the QMJHL for the Hull Festivals, Sorel Eperviers, and the Trois Rivieres Draveurs. David made the first all-star team in 1975-76. He was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in round 3, 42nd overall, in the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft but instead went to the Quebec Nordiques of the WHA in 1978-79. David stayed with the Nords when they entered the NHL in 1979. He spent several years jumping between the Nordiques and their farm teams. David retired in 1983. David played in 31 NHL games, scoring 4 goals and 4 assists.
