| Synopsis
| - The story of a boy who wants to be an escape artist, so he puts himself in a straightjacket suspended upside down. His policeman older brother vows to buy him an ice cream sundae if he can break out; no-one knows the brother will get shot that day. The boy grows up, becomes the famous Mister Miracle, gets married, has a child. Wonders at how fast time goes by. Mister Miracle dies in his own home, surrounded by his loved ones... and visited by a diabolic rabbi. Mister Miracle dies screaming that something is wrong. Scene.
The story of a boy who wants to be an escape astist. The boy grows up to be the warden of Slabside Penitentiary, waiting for the beings who will execute the homeless god Aurakles for his crimes. On a hunch, the warden goes in and speaks to Aurakles, who asks him to give up his life to save the world. Locked in the cell with the mad god, the warden is burned alive. Scene.
In an office, DeSaad is attempting to dissect Shilo Norman's Motherboxxx. Something appears to be missing from it, but it is the last Mother Box in all existence, so DeSaad continues. Darkseid observes him, clearly exhausted, as he boasts of putting Shilo Norman in a trap even he can't escape: the Omega Sanction.
The story of a boy who wants to be an escape artist. The boy grows up to be the super hero Mister Miracle. Mister Miracle tries to escape reality itself, and finds the Omega Sanction, The Life Trap. After this, several more stories about boys who want to be escape artists. They all die horribly, as their worlds are torn apart in crisis and madness.
Then, on his death-bed, Mister Miracle makes the connection: the Omega Sanction is trapped as well. Reaching out to the living trap, Mister Miracle manages to convince it to escape with him.
In the office, DeSaad realises that the soul of Motherboxxx has hidden in Shilo Norman, and the hero has escaped. Darkseid claims it is all DeSaad's fault.
The story of a boy who wants to be an escape artist, crying for his dead brother. A therapist explains that the terrible gravity of his brother's death is warping his life like a dying star, but that he can free himself with forgiveness and hope. Shilo Norman comes to, and finds... a black hole; the very one he thought he had escaped a week ago. Metron appears before him and congratulates him on passing the first test. He then asks Mister Miracle to go further, return to the world and save everyone.
In a disused wrestling ring in New York, a janitor is surprised when time and space part to birth a man set free. Mister Miracle is back.
