Ohtar war einer der drei Überlebenden des Gemetzels. Der Name ist möglicherweise auch nur eine Anredeform, denn Ohtar war der Titel aller erprobten Männer, denen der Rang eines Roquen (Ritter) noch nicht zuerkannt wurde. Der eigentliche Name des Schildknappen war wohl in Vergessenheit geraten. Überzeugend zu klären ist das aber nicht. Tolkien selbst äußert sich hierzu nicht eindeutig.
