The lake is frozen over except around the edges, which seem to emit a bright blue aura. The ice exhibits the same sparkling effect as Starlight Falls and the Starfire Citadel, only the sparkles are blue instead of red or yellow. At the center of the lake, a large moon-shaped shadow can be seen.

If the player enters the area with the Azure Gem in their possession, the shadow at the center will being glowing bright blue, and the ice will begin to melt. A large circular chasm will open where the shadow once was and the water will begin to swirl around and down into the chasm in a clockwise motion. Following the current into the chasm will bring the player to the Azure Ark where the Ice-type half of Quochebel's spirit is reawakened.
