Steve was the owner of a working mans club that Joanie Wright was employed to sing in in December 2015. Steve was annoyed that Joanie was taking breaks and ordered her to get back to singing. Joanie quit but Steve only gave her half of the money she was owed so Zak Dingle stole a case of whisky. The following day, Steve turned up at Wishing Well Cottage and demanded either the whisky or the money and he was surprised Zak had a wife. Zak insists he would get the money but it would take a few days, but Steve demanded double and that day or Zak's wife Lisa would find out about he and Joanie. Zak got his son Cain Dingle to threaten Steve. Cain trashed the club and warned Steve to leave his family alone.
