Bossong used to smoke but insisted that everything should be taken in moderation. She was involved with several roman catholic charities. Bossong deliberately chose not to marry. She said she liked men but not from a marriage point of view. She moved to a nursing home when she was 101 years old. She walked daily before falling and breaking her hip at 104. When she was 106 years old, she said that she sometimes feel 20 and other times 80. She used a wheelchair to transport herself. On her 108th birthday, she was able to dance. Her cake had 109 candles; the last one was for good luck. Her sister Maude died in 1977. Louise Bossong died in New Jersey on 26 July 1987, at the age of 111 years, 37/38? days. Revalidation research suggests she was a day older.
