The St. Francis Xavier X-Men football team won the second ever Vanier Cup national championship and, to date, has been the program's only Vanier Cup victory. They were also runners-up in the 1996 game, which was also the last season that the X-Men won an AUS title. As of the 2011 season, this Atlantic title drought is the longest of any active program in the AUS. In the 2011 CFL Draft, Henoc Muamba became the first X-Men player to be selected first overall, having been drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
