I was looking at the Diablo wiki and the Starcraft wiki which look more like the standard Wikia-wiki template and I'm concerned that the right sidebar is too wide. I hope WoWWiki doesn't inherit this layout. The sidebar effectively takes up about 1/3rd the width of the screen. Any feedback on this concern? --Image:Gengar orange 22x22.png Fandyllic (talk · contr) 2:51 PM PDT 1 Nov 2007

Wikia said they'd make it an optional skin. --Sky (t · c · w) 22:06, 1 November 2007 (UTC) The new skin will become the default skin for new users and those not logged in - however, the option to use the old skin will still be there. The sidebar contents are customizable and allows for quite a variety of special stuff :) I've been working with the "Quartz" skin on other wikis for a while, and it has really grown on me. I should note that Wikia welcome feedback, and by the time we move over to it, some changes may be in place. 22:15, 1 November 2007 (UTC) I agree on the unnecessary overly sized sidebar width, the placement on the right side of the screen is OK, but I would think that it could be customized to limit it to one column. This is one of our communities biggest feedback with our new default skin and Quartz in general. --Charitwo 15:23, 14 November 2007 (UTC) So, will there be an attempt to integrate features from the new skin into the old skin? It would be nice to try to make a compromise skin in between the two. --Image:Gengar orange 22x22.png Fandyllic (talk · contr) 1:17 AM PST 6 Jan 2008 JohnQ has put out some mockups of the next version of Quartz. Hopefully we can get some feedback and then put up a live version for people to try out. The images are attached to his mail to the Central mailing list. I think this could be called a compromise between the two skins, hopefully taking the best of both -- sannse (talk) 18:37, 10 January 2008 (UTC) Perhaps it's me, but I only see a left sidebar? Regardless, I do agree that it is far too large. It really makes the menu and advertising there stand out quite a bit, but I am personally more interested in reading the content on the page, not the sidebar. I have always loved the dark grey monobook skin, and will continue to use it myself. 09:44, 8 April 2008 (UTC) The above pertained to the previous version of the skin, called Quartz. You are fine to continue using the old skin, but be warned that I won't be supporting it. There is no advertising on the sidebar, save for a Wikia Spotlight, which is for other Wikia wikis. 11:00, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
