The E-pulse 88 Rifle went into service about 5 years after the Klendathu System Campaign. This rifle was used by the 701st Mobile Infantry whilst on campaign deep inside the Arachnid Quarantine Zone. Unlike the E-pulse 44 Rifle which serves as a primary infantry assault rifle, the E-pulse 88 is the equivalent of a light machine gun. By the Second Bug War however these weapons had not gone into mass production; the Federation instead opting for Morita III Assault Rifle as the primary weapon of all ground forces.
