| - Charles II (Romanian: Carol II) was King of the Romanians and Prince of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. He was born on 15 October 1893 in Sinaia, Romania, the eldest son of Prince Ferdinand of Romania and Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen (later King Ferdinand I of the Romanians) and his wife Princess Mary of Great Britain and Ireland. He became King of the Romanians upon the death of his father on 20 July 1927 and reigned until his death. He died on 4 April 1953 in Bucharest, Romania. He married, firstly, on 31 August 1918 to Joanna Marie Valentina Lambrino (1898-1953), known as "Zizi", daughter of a Romanian general. They were divorced in 1919, however, the marriage produced a son: Charles (1920-2006), who succeeded his father as King Charles III of the Romanians. He married, secondly, on 10 March 1921 to Princess Helen of Greece, Denmark and Norway (1896-1982), daughter of King Constantine I of the Hellenes and his wife Princess Sophia of Prussia. They were divorced in 1928, however, the marriage produced a son: Michael of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen (born 1921), former Prince of Romania and pretender to the Romanian throne He married, thirdly, on 3 June 1947 to Elena Lupescu (1895-1977), known as "Magda", daughter of the apothecary Nicolae Lupescu and his wife Elise Falk, who both were born as Jews, however, her father was a convert to Orthodox Christianity, and her mother was a convert to Roman Catholic Christianity. They had no issue.
