- Whale Sharks are large sharks that roam Vashj'ir and have been rumored to live in the now flooded Thousand Needles. According to some, they are wholly malicious entities whose sole purpose is the devouring of inattentive or overzealous adventurers. Few have encountered these legendary monstrosities and lived to tell the tale. For the most part, however, they trawl the deeper portions of the oceans for very small prey that confuse their enormous mouth for a cave.
- The whale shark is known as the largest living shark. Able to grow up to 60 n/m (18.0987965463725 cm) and weigh up to 70,000 tons. It is named for its head and its feeding behavior, bum suculation, like remora do.

- The whale shark, Rhincodon typus, is a slow moving filter feeding shark that is the largest living fish species. It can grow up to 12.2 m. (40 ft.) in length and can weigh up to 13.6 tonnes (15 short tons). This distinctively-marked shark is the only member of its genus Rhincodon and its family, Rhincodontidae (called Rhinodontes before 1984), which is grouped into the subclass Elasmobranchii in the class Chondrichthyes. The shark is found in tropical and warm oceans and lives in the open sea and can live for about 70 years. The species is believed to have originated about 60 million years ago.
- The whale shark is found in open waters of the tropical oceans and is rarely found in water below 22 °C (72 °F). Modeling suggests a lifespan of about 70 years, but measurements have proven difficult. They have very large mouths and are filter feeders, which is a feeding mode that occurs in only two other sharks, the megamouth shark and the basking shark. They feed almost exclusively on plankton and, therefore, are completely harmless to humans.
