It was openly broadcast from the fall of 2000 until it was silenced by the FCC in mid-April 2001. At the time of it's demise, many listeners blamed a local newspaper, The Athens News for its contribution to the shut down of the station. An article published by the newspaper was thought to have alerted the FCC about the existence of the station, prompting their involvement.
