Fox Force Four is a Lovian all-female jazz improvisation ensemble, based in Artista, Noble City. Band members are Ellie Gauld (saxophone and clarinet), Nicky van Huizen (trombone and tuba), Em Rothschild (bass and vocals), and Martha Van Ghent (piano and vocals). The band is occasionally accompanied by a larger instrumental jazz band, the Noble City Blues Band. Fox Force Four was founded October 6, 2009 by its present members. Initially experimenting with cool jazz and West Coast jazz, Fox Force Four has recently adapted a more hard bop-influenced style. Thanks to Fox Force Four's performance at the 2010 Jazz Portland festival, the band gained national fame. The band has been working on its first studio album, the mainly instrumental album The Maiden Name, that was released in October 2010
