Reverend William Cuff (1841 - 21 May 1926) was a prominent baptist minister. Born in Hasfield, Gloucestershire, he entered business as a butcher in Cheltenham. On hearing a sermon by Charles Spurgeon he decided to become a clergyman. He became pastor of Ridgmont Baptist Church in Bedfordshire in 1865. In 1867 he moved to a ministry in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. In 1872 he became pastor of Shoreditch Tabernacle Baptist Church, a post he held for 45 years. He established a tradition of collecting funds to distribute beef to the poor each Christmas, using his butchering skills to prepare the joints of meat himself. He served as President of the Baptist Union.
