This classification was lightly armed, with weapon systems approximately of a warship a third of its size. However, the deficit was compensated for by its heavier armor plating and deflector shielding, and also with its extensive compliment of starfighters, ground units, and biochemical weapons. The command codex commanded that these uncommon, unique heavy carriers be placed at the rear of Mandalorian fleets until the orbital theater of operations was secure. This was for several reasons: the extensive cost of these carriers, the number of ground personnel and ground vehicles onboard, and also because of the extensive biochemical weapons carried onboard. A precisely aimed missile impact could overwhelm the containment forcefields restraining the lethal "dirty warfare" agents, and the superheating of air caused could release the sealed agents. This was aptly shown during the Battle of Bastion, when the planetary carrier Running Blade was sabotaged by the Dark Nebula division of the Galactic Federation. The Null-x and Null-y chemical warfare gases escaped from their containment shields, slaughtering all of the Mandalorians onboard within seconds, and also corroding the circuitry of the onboard operating droids, rendering them incapable of fending off the boarding parties.
