Kaoyaku (顔役 Kaoyaku) is a film directed by Teruo Ishii. Designed by Toei as their New Year release for 1965, problems arose when the assigned director, Kinji Fukasaku, left the project after an argument with screenwriter Kazuo Kasahara. Teruo Ishii filled in as director. Ken Takakura hums a melody in this film which he also sang in Ishii's next film, Abashiri Prison, released in April 1965.
