On most articles about characters and planets start with ___ was. Why is the word "was" used? Since books are still being written, and appearances are being made, it should be is not was. The Wiki should be passive and in a timeless tense. Even destroyed planets should be written in the present tense, as new books may be published that take place before it was destroyed. --Vexlith 23:30, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

I believe It would read easier if the present tense was used. Even the databank doesn't use the past tense. --Vexlith 23:36, 11 July 2006 (UTC) * Yes, but the idea with this encyclopedia is that it is written as if it were an encyclopedia within the Star Wars universe, and being written by in-universe historians. AdamwankenobiTalk to me! My home. 00:05, 12 July 2006 (UTC) * Wow, so I'm actually part of the continuity? :-P No, it has been agreed upon a long time ago to write in past tense KEJ 17:53, 13 July 2006 (UTC) * Besides, was can be used across the board, whereas is could only be used to refer to characters not dead in the "present day" (wherever our perspective would be set). It's far easier to create one rule for all articles rather than having a muddle of tenses - Kwenn 18:23, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
