Poseidon's Rage is one of the magic attacks Kratos acquires in God of War. Kratos receives Poseidon's Rage in the Aegean Sea from the god Poseidon himself, to help fight the Hydra. The magic surrounds Kratos with a circle of electricity, and summons lightning bolts from the sky to strike down his enemies. By repeatedly pressing the circle button, the attack can build more damage. One can level it up to increase its damage and attack radius. Poseidon's Rage gets taken away by Ares in the first God of War, but is given back along with the rest of his magic by Athena.

Kratos still has this ability during the first part of God of War II (albeit in a weaker form), before losing his godly powers to Zeus' scheme. A player can also use the Urn of Poseidon, one of the Urns of Power, during Bonus Play to replace Cronos' Rage with Poseidon's Rage. Poseidon's Rage is entirely absent from God of War: Ghost of Sparta, even though it takes place before the events of God of War II. Though Kratos does not have the power, Poseidon himself unleashes an electrical storm on Kratos and the boat in the Vortex to Atlantis.
