The Defiant-class frigate was a class of frigate constructed from 22 BBY and 21 BBY by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, during the Clone Wars. They were some of the only ship built by the Camildrona Shipyard Corporation for the Confederacy, built during the Separatist occupation of the planet. The ships were finished in early 21 BBY, just before the Battle of Camildrona. Most of the ships survived that battle, and went on to serve numerous engagements against the Galactic Republic.

They were some of the only ship built by the Camildrona Shipyard Corporation for the Confederacy, built during the Separatist occupation of the planet. The ships were finished in early 21 BBY, just before the Battle of Camildrona. Most of the ships survived that battle, and went on to serve numerous engagements against the Galactic Republic. After the end of the war, the remaining Defiant class ships (with the exception of the Armourer, which joined the Empire) remained in service with the Separatist Remnant, until it was absorbed into Kota's Militia. The Militia itself later became part of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, in which the Defiant-class saw many years of prestigious service, both for the Rebel Alliance and it's successor government, the New Republic. In 18 ABY, the ships were deemed by the New Republic government, "Too slow, old, and versatile", and all ships were withdrawn from service, with the exception of the lead ship of the class, the Defiant, which saw five more years of service before being retired. After withdrawal, many ships of the class, including the Defiant, were bought and became civilian ships, such as Liners, Hotels, and other.
