A coilgun was a type of weapon that accelerated a physical projectile using magnetic fields produced by coils of wire around the barrel. The 23rd century Bajoran Militia Karaya-class class cruiser mounted two spinal coilguns fore and aft that fired 5 kilogram rounds. (Bait and Switch: "A Changed World") In the 25th century, the Starfleet's T-204 Hayes main battle tank featured a 120 millimeter coilgun as its primary weapon. It was capable of putting a bunker buster shell through eight meters of ferrocrete. (Bait and Switch: "Last Rights")

- This technique requires a kunai and incredible chakra control. The technique begins with the user holding a kunai in their dominate hand. The user first creates an electrical field around each of the fingers in their dominate hand. The user then throws the kunai and turns on and off the electrical fields around each finger in a precise and timed order. If done correctly the kunai shoots out of the users hand at a 100 mph.
- Coilguns generally consist of one or more coils arranged along a barrel, so the path of the accelerating projectile lies along the central axis of the coils. The coils are switched on and off in a precisely timed sequence, causing the projectile to be accelerated quickly along the barrel via magnetic forces. Coilguns are distinct from railguns, as the direction of acceleration in a railgun is at right angles to the central axis of the current loop formed by the conducting rails. Also, railguns usually require the use of sliding contacts to pass a large current through the projectile or sabot but coilguns do not necessarily require sliding contacts. Whilst some simple coilgun concepts can use ferromagnetic projectiles or even permanent magnet projectiles, most designs for high velocities ac

Whilst some simple coilgun concepts can use ferromagnetic projectiles or even permanent magnet projectiles, most designs for high velocities actually incorporate a coupled coil as part of the projectile. The first operational coilgun was developed and patented by Norwegian physicist Kristian Birkeland. In 1934, an American inventor developed a machine gun similar in concept to the coilgun. Except for a photo in a few publications, very little is known about it.
