Trent Kort, thirsty for power, worked outside of the agency's orders on occasion in order to ensure Lodestone's success, even if it meant taking casualties.

Trent Kort, thirsty for power, worked outside of the agency's orders on occasion in order to ensure Lodestone's success, even if it meant taking casualties. In the end, La Grenouille decided that he wanted to retire and fled Kort's protection. Kort began frantically searching for him, but did not succeed before Jennifer Shepard later murdered Benoit in revenge for her father's death which she believed was murder despite the "official" confirmation that it was a suicide.
