The Academy of Motion Pictures Award Ceremony, colloquially called the Oscars, is an annual award ceremony held every February or March to commemorate films, actors and directors that were excellent work the previous year. The awards have been handed out every year since 1930, and have been broadcast on television every year since 1948. They are currently handed out at the John F. Kennedy Theater in Los Angeles, CA.
