The Flame That Marched Against the Sea is a potent essence-infused mixture created using the Celestial Phoenix Cauldron. It creates a potent Holy-aspected flame and ignites specifically on contact with water. Alternately, the mixture may be mixed with normal firedust, creating a thick paste which may be used in a flame cannon or smaller piece of flame weaponry. This causes it to burn golden and spread its power to the body of anything caught by the flame, effectively causing the weapon to deal Holy damage.

  • The Flame That Marched Against the Sea is a potent essence-infused mixture created using the Celestial Phoenix Cauldron. It creates a potent Holy-aspected flame and ignites specifically on contact with water. The Flame That Marched Against the Sea is a bright, pearly golden liquid that seems to shimmer and glow. The party keeps it in a beautifully crafted, airtight bottle of red jade inlaid with various depictions of the sun and the party's likenesses. Every hour, if fed a few motes or exposed to a Solar anima banner, it will regenerate to refill the bottle. A little bit goes a long way, and a single drop can create a man-sized flame. Liquid that is separated from the rest loses its properties after an hour, becoming the particularly useless product of wet firedust. The flame deals damage as an environmental hazard, up to the level of a bonfire (Damage 4L/action, Trauma 3). It is considered Holy, and so does aggravated damage to creatures of darkness, who must then first reduce the damage from aggravated to lethal before converting it to bashing with a successful roll. The exact stats are only if the opponent is entirely surrounded by flame; enemies actively avoiding it may reduce damage or avoid it altogether. It only ignites specifically on contact with water, though mixing it with water ahead of time may produce a similar effect. Alternately, the mixture may be mixed with normal firedust, creating a thick paste which may be used in a flame cannon or smaller piece of flame weaponry. This causes it to burn golden and spread its power to the body of anything caught by the flame, effectively causing the weapon to deal Holy damage. The Flame That Marched Against the Sea was named as a taunt against Kimbery, the Sea That Marched Against the Flame. Unknown to the party (and most living beings save Leviathan and a handful of Sidereals), this was also the name of the Western directional Titan airship in the First Age.
