A Song for Europe is the fifth episode of Series 2 of Father Ted.
A Song For Europe was a BBC1 TV show broadcast annually to select the United Kingdom's entry into the Eurovision Song Contest. The show was presented by Terry Wogan and Peel is featured in the video clip for the 2003 A Song For Europe edition, where he talks about his fondness for the Eurovision Song Contest. Interestingly that year's Eurovision song contest made British history, when the British entry by Jemini scored nil points, the first time a British artist had achieved this status (often claimed to be at least partially because of British involvement in the invasion of Iraq). However their Eurovision song Cry Baby did reach number 15 in the UK Singles Chart.
"A Song For Europe" is a Roxy Music song, originally released on 1 November 1973, and later covered on Dream Home Heartaches in 1995 featuring John Taylor performing guitar.
