Despite the RG name, the RG1003 has the rounded-edge body style and swoopy, rounded headstock of the older Roadstar body. It is one of a small handful of RG models with a triple single-coil pickup configuration. It has a tone chamber routed out of the body under the pickguard. The RG1003 features an ash body with a flame maple top bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret ebony fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include three Ibanez Lo-ZS active single coil pickups and a Powerocker tremolo bridge. The RG1200 is a similar model with a humbucker at the bridge and an Edge tremolo.
