This grunge band can really make you cry. * "Black". In almost any other group's "hands" this would be just a cheesy and wangsty song about Unrequited Love, but Vedder and Co. make it work. * And "Jeremy". It's about a guy who committed suicide in the middle of his English class. * And "Even Flow". About a homeless, illiterate, mentally insane man. * One can get really depressed listening to "Given to Fly". * "Yellow Ledbetter". The melody alone is pretty fucking depressing... * "Immortality" is a Kurt Cobain tribute that deserves a mention. * "Last Kiss" (originally performed by Wayne Cochran, more famously performed by this band) is either this or Narm. * "Present Tense" can get some people choked up. * "O4/20/02" was written and recorded hours after
