Bruce Wayne is a reclusive elderly billionaire who was the first Batman, but has since been retired for many years for "personal reasons". Though after his retirement he continued to run Wayne Enterpriss, most of his shares were later purchased by Derek Powers, who renamed the company Wayne & Powers, Inc.. When Terry McGinnis' father, Dr. Warren McGinnis, is murdered on Powers' orders, Bruce decides to train McGinnis to become the new Batman. Following Powers' transformation into Blight and his outsing from Wayne & Powers, Bruce re-acquires his shares and once again becomes owner and president of the company, once again naming it Wayne Enterprises.
