“That’s where the first twist comes in.” Gasps were heard among the eighteen new castaways. “Each tribe of six will be voting one person out,” Jeff announced. “Based solely on first impressions.” The host passed parchment and pens around to the eighteen castaways. Chester: I’ve watched Survivor: Tocantins. Jeff did this same thing to the people but what really happened is that the outcast goes on a copter to camp. I had to be careful on who I was going to vote out. “Remember, you have nothing to base this vote on but what you think of the other castaways before meeting them. Is everyone ready? Purple tribe, you’re first.” Kelly revealed her vote, “Girl in the green shoes.” “What’s your name?” Jeff asked. “Sandra.” “One vote Sandra.” Larry revealed his vote, “Blonde in the orange bikini.” “

“Sandra.” “One vote Sandra.” Larry revealed his vote, “Blonde in the orange bikini.” “Name?” “Samantha,” the blonde said as she revealed her vote. “Red top.” “Two votes Sandra, one for Samantha.” Glen revealed his vote, “Ehh, hot blonde.” “Two votes Sandra, two votes Samantha.” Sandra revealed her vote, “Blonde.” “Three votes Samantha, two votes Sandra. Jason, you’re the swing vote.” Jason revealed his vote, “Orange all around.” “That’s four against Samantha,” Jeff announced. “Samantha, come stand here next to me.” Samantha walked over to Jeff, folding her arms. “How are you feeling?” Jeff asked. “Not good, Jeff. I got voted out before the game even started.” “Blue tribe, reveal your votes.” Zoey revealed her vote, “Flaming pink hair.” “—ing Amanda,” the girl stated her name. Jenna revealed her vote, “Girl with the horrible blue shorts.” “That’s two votes Amanda.” Robert revealed his vote, “Redhead.” “Three for Amanda.” Amanda revealed her vote, “—ing Jenna.” “That’s three votes Amanda, one vote Jenna. Kevin, Thomas, reveal at once.” The two revealed their votes: both were for Amanda. “Amanda, come stand over here.” Amanda walked over to Jeff. “This is where we stand. Tochigi voted out Samantha in a 4—2 vote against Sandra and Shibata voted out Amanda in a 5—1 vote against Jenna. Green tribe.” Amy revealed her vote. “Shirt and tie.” “What’s your name?” “Matthew.” Rosey revealed her vote, “Scientist.” “Amy.” “One vote Amy, one vote Matthew.” Ozzy 2.0 revealed his vote, “Rosey.” “This vote is all over the place. One Amy, one Rosey, and one for Matthew.” Tessa revealed her vote, “I voted for Amy.” “Two votes Amy, one vote Matthew and Rosey.” Before revealing his vote, Chester spoke. “Mr. Probst, in season eighteen, this vote happened. However, the ones voted out were spared from a four hour walk instead of being votes out. As a result, instead of voting for who I want out, I voted for someone who I think would do good in challenged and would deserve to not walk. Alas, I voted for the man that looks like Ozzy.” “Ozzy 2.0.” Laughs were heard from the veteran group. “Two votes Amy, one vote Ozzy 2.0, one vote Matthew, one vote Rosey. Matthew. you could tie it up, or send Amy packing.” “I voted for Chester,” Matthew said. “Amy, please come here.” Amy walked over to Probst. “Amy has been voted out from a 2—1—1—1—1 vote. Everyone got votes, except Tessa. Chester, I like your theory, but it is wrong. The three of you have been voted out of Survivor: Japan. However, these six veterans need a tribe. Each of you will be giving one man and one woman to your former tribe.” “These six veterans need a tribe. Each of you will be giving one man and one woman to your former tribe. This order has been picked at random. Samantha, you can pick the male first.” “Russell,” Samantha deviously smiled. “Russell Hantz,” Jeff handed him a purple buff. “You are the sixth member of the Tochigi tribe.” Russell joined his tribe and they welcomed him with open arms. Russell: This Samantha girl, she picked me as a punishment for the tribe that just voted her out of the game. I take that as a compliment. This is my fourth time playing, and I will win Survivor, even if it’s the last thing I do. “Amy, you may now pick a female for your tribe.” “I pick Eliza.” “Eliza Orlins,” Jeff handed her a green buff. “You are the sixth member of the Kushiro tribe.” Eliza joined her tribe and she hugged them all one by one. Eliza: The last time I played was four and a half years ago. And the time before that was three and a half years ago. I’m basically known for playing that stick, and yes I do know that wasn’t an actual Idol. I am determined to win this time. I’m here to win. “Samantha,” Jeff added. “You may now pick a female.” “Parvati,” Samantha continued her devious smile. “Parvati Shallow,” Jeff handed her a purple buff. “You are the final member of the Tochigi tribe.” Parvati joined her tribe and she hugged each of them one by one, much like Eliza. Parvati: I do know why Samantha picked me. She knows of how much of a powerhouse alliance Russell and I are and she thinks we’ll team up again to (air quotes) get vengeance for her. (laughs) I might team up with Russell. Whatever will bring me to another million dollars, I’ll do. “Left are Penner, Ozzy, and Stephenie.” Jeff handed Stephenie a blue buff. “You can go right ahead and join your new tribe.” Stephenie walks over to Shibata. Stephenie: Last picked. (waves hands up in the air) No surprise there, not like I’m as threatening as Parvati and Eliza. But, seriously, I don’t want to be out second again. I’m here for the million. It may be my fourth time playing, but I will get that prize. “Amanda,” Jeff called. “Are you going to give your tribe Penner or Ozzy?” “Penner,” Amanda said as if she didn’t care at all. “Penner,” Jeff handed him a blue buff. “You are the final member of the Shibata tribe. Go over and meet your new team.” Penner walked to his new tribe. Penner: Eliza and I are the only ones who’ve been on the show twice beforehand, and now I’m on a team with Stephenie. I think this will be very good for me, who knows? Will it get me to a million dollars? I need a strong ally and Steph might be the one there for me. Thirty-nine days from now, you’ll see me with a million dollars in my hands. I can almost smell it. “Ozzy,” Jeff handed him a green buff. “Join the Kushiro tribe.” Ozzy walked over and eyed his doppelgänger. Ozzy: First tribe I was on was with Penner, not with him. First tribe I was on was with Parv, not with her. Instead, I’m with Eliza who tried to get me voted out in my second season. (rubs hands together) Hopefully, she won’t try this again because this is my fourth time playing, and I need that million. “Amanda, Samantha, Amy; you can stay with me,” Jeff said, as he handed out a map to each tribe. “The twenty-one of you can go on to your camps.” The three tribes went their separate ways as each outcasts hopped on a different speedboat. Day 01: Shibata The blue tribe was seen arriving at their camp. “Oh,” Kevin said. “That was such a long walk. Not cool for my mojo.” Robert: Kevin, he be annoyin’. I don’t like him. Only thinks about ‘imself. I think we should get rid of the pretty boy. “I’m Robert,” Robert said. “I’m an accountant.” He got up. “Okay, guys. I think we need to get our shelter ready.” “Yeah, you do that.” Kevin said. Robert walked to the beach to try to look for some fire wood, alone. Jenna was seen laying down on Kevin’s lap. Penner: I hate this tribe. I was definitely put on the wrong tribe. I need to make an alliance before this tribe full of idiots vote me out. Penner and Stephenie were walking along the beach. “I was thinking,” Penner started. “You and I are the biggest threats to this team. If we don’t work together, they might just pick us off.” Stephenie nodded. “We need a majority alliance, so we need two more. I was thinking Robert.” Robert passed them, pulling a bunch of wood. “I can use some help here.” Stephenie: Jonathan and I want to go to the end together. We asked Robert to join us and he agreed. “We need one more though,” Robert said. “Not Kevin.” “Not Jenna either,” Penner added. “That leaves Zoey and Thomas.” Stephenie walked away, “I’ll be right back.” She found her way back to camp, and asked Thomas, “Want to go look for some wood?” The two started walking. “How would you like to go to the end with me?” Stephenie asked. “I’m all for it,” Thomas said. “I’ll keep everything covered,” Steph whispered as she walked away. Day 01: Kushiro The green tribe arrived at camp. “Is that our flag?” Chester enthused. “We’re home!” Tessa shouted. Rosey: Tessa’s so cute. But I have to remember to keep my strategy and stay straight. Ozzy started ordering everyone around, “Alright everybody. If we want to survive, we need to get shelter. Chester and Matthew, go find leaves. Rosey and Tessa, the two of you can look for food. Eliza and I will be searching for wood.” “What should I do,” Ozzy 2.0 asked, “master?” “Not call me master.” Ozzy said as he started walking with Eliza. “I’m sorry for trying to vote you out last time around,” Eliza apologized. “Whatever,” Ozzy said. “We need to team up. I split up Rosey and Tessa from everyone else because I was thinking we could drag them along with us till the merge.” “I like that idea,” Eliza said, as the two started dragging bamboo back to camp. The camera switched to Tessa and Rosey. “So,” Rosey tried to spark a conversation. “We need to team up.” “Oh, yeah!!” Tessa responded. “That would be a great idea.” “We should try to keep this alliance as quiet as possible,” Rosey said. “But I was thinking we could team up with Matthew and Thomas.” Tessa was mesmerized. “You do all the work.” “Fine,” Rosey smiled. Tessa hugged Rosey. The camera switched to Matthew and Thomas. “I was thinking,” Matthew said. “To go far in this game, you need a partner. We should be allies, and maybe have Ozzy and Eliza as tagalongs?” “That’d be great,” Thomas agreed. The camera showed Ozzy 2.0, playing in the sand. Ozzy 2.0: I’m on the same tribe as my idol and he doesn’t even care about me! Day 01: Tochigi The purple tribe arrived at camp. Russell: The game started when I was put on a tribe. Let’s go. “Parv,” Russell whispered. “How ‘bout us teaming up again?” “I don’t know,” Parvati said. “I’ll think about it.” Parvati got up and started walking with Kelly. “Hey,” Parvati said. “Kelly?” “Yeah.” “What do you say about us teaming up with Sandra and Russell?” Parvati said. “And if we get to five, we vote off Russell.” “Sounds like a plan,” Kelly said. Parvati walked back to Russell, and said “It’s you, me, Kelly, and we just need Sandra.” “I got her,” Russell said. “Sandra!!” He called Sandra walked up to Russell. “You, me, Kelly, Parv. Final four.” “Okay!” Sandra smiled. The game fast forwarded to day three, where the three tribes arrived at the challenge. “Hello, tribes.” Jeff Probst greeted the twenty-one castaways. “Are you ready for your first challenge?” “Yeah!!” “Yes!” “WOOOO!!” “Alright. The tribes will be divided into pairs. The first pair from each tribe would be tethered together and have to race through the jungle and up a cargo net to retrieve two paddles. The next pair would use those paddles to paddle a boat out in the ocean to a buoy where they would dive to release a chest and swim it back to shore. All six castaways would then push the chest up the beach to a puzzle assembly mat. The final pair of castaways would use the pieces inside the chest to assemble a puzzle. Wanna know what your playing for?” “Yes.” Jeff uncovered two hidden statues, similar to the immunity idol of Survivor: China. “Immunity. If you have this, it guarantees that you will be safe in this game for at least another day. In addition, the tribe that comes in first will receive a fire-starting kit, complete with wood, flint, and fluid. Second place wins flint. Worth playing for?” “Yeah!” “Alright, because this challenge is played in pairs, one person from each tribe must sit out. Who’s it gonna be?” Ozzy 2.0, Zoey, and Glen raised their hands. “Sit on the bench.” Later, Jeff said “Okay, for Kushiro, the two getting the paddles are Rosey and Tessa, Ozzy and Eliza are diving, and the puzzlers are Chester and Matthew. For Shibata, Jenna and Stephenie are getting the paddles, Robert and Penner are diving, and Kevin and Thomas are the puzzlers. For Tochigi, Kelly and Parvati are getting the paddles, Russell and Jason are diving, and Larry and Sandra are puzzlers.” Jeff put two fingers up in the air. “Survivors ready...” He threw them down. “GO!” The six castaways started running into the bushes. Jenna and Stephenie are leading the pact with Rosey and Tessa in behind. The six found an obstacle and they all climbed up the rope ladder. Jenna and Stephenie reach the top, and Stephenie starts untying the ropes. Parvati and Kelly are not far behind as the two reached the top and have started untying! Rosey and Tessa fell backwards. “Okay, Tessa.” Rosey said. “I’m going to grab you by your...butt to try to get us up to the top.” Rosey blushed as she pushed Tessa up by her rear end. Parvati and Kelly untie the ropes, grab the paddles, and jump off the short building! Stephenie and Jenna follow right after! Rosey and Tessa finally reach the top! “You can let go of my ass now,” Tessa said. Rosey let go as they started untying the ropes. “Who will be out first?” Stephenie and Jenna emerged out of the bushes and gave Robert and Penner the two paddles. Parvati and Kelly followed their exit and threw the paddles to Russell and Jason. Rosey and Tessa finally untied the ropes and jumped off the wall, as the two other teams have already begun paddling. Rosey and Tessa threw the paddles to Ozzy and Eliza as the other pairs are already a quarter of a way done! The three tribes are all paddling, as Robert and Penner begin paddling harder! Robert and Penner reach the finish and dive in to the water. The other tribes are paddling as hard as possible, as Robert and Penner jump out of the water with their chest! Robert and Penner with a big lead, as Russell and Jason reach the end. Russell goes into the water, and soon comes out with the chest! The two start swimming back, as Ozzy and Eliza are still paddling! Ozzy and Eliza finally reach the end, and Ozzy dives in! In a matter of ten seconds, he pops out with the chest! Kushiro and Tochigi are neck-in-neck as Shibata has a huge lead! Penner and Robert crossed the line, and the whole Shibata tribe (save Zoey) went to help. The six push their chest on to their mat, as Russell and Jason cross the line, soon followed by Ozzy and Eliza! “Puzzlemakers, go!” Shibata’s puzzlers, Kevin and Thomas, began solving the puzzle. Both tribes go and try to get their chest back to shore. Tochigi has their tribe on their mat! Tochigi’s puzzlers, Larry and Sandra, began solving the puzzle. Kushiro is only halfway there. “Kushiro made up a lot of time!” “This piece goes here...” Thomas said. Kushiro brings their chest to their mat! Kushiro’s puzzlers, Chester and Matthew, began solving the puzzle. “Shibata had a huge lead, but that lead is pretty much gone now.” Shibata goes over the half line. Sandra looks at Shibata’s puzzle, as she tries to copy it. Shibata continues to extend their lead, as they have three pieces left! Tochigi has five pieces left, as Kushiro has eight. “Sandra with another piece! And another! “Shibata and Tochigi are now dead even with two pieces left, while Kushiro has five!” Thomas adds another piece, as Kevin finishes the puzzle with the final piece! “Shibata! First to finish! We’re still going for second.” Shibata continued to cheer. “And Sandra does it. Tochigi wins immunity and the smaller reward, and Kushiro is headed to Tribal Council! “Shibata, huge victory! Come get your reward: immunity and a fire-making kit. Nobody going home from your tribe. “Tochigi. Not as big a reward but you got what you needed: immunity, and flint to go along with it. No Tribal Council for Tochigi. “Kushiro, I got nothing for you except for a date with me. Tribal Council for you tonight. Someone from your tribe going home. However, there is another twist.” Gasps were heard from among the crowd. “Exile Island is back in play. As you will not be present for Tribal, you will be immune. Shibata, as you have won the challenge, you get to pick one person from Kushiro to go to Exile Island.” The Shibata tribe discussed it in a huddle, and Penner said “We pick Eliza.” “Eliza, take this map, and find your way to Exile Island.” Eliza left the site. “Tochigi, again, someone’s going home. You have the afternoon to think about it.” Ozzy: Ozzy 2.0 didn’t even participate in the challenge. He deserves to go home because he brings nothing to our tribe. Day 03: Exile Island Eliza arrived at Exile Island. “I might as well try to find the idol while I’m here,” Eliza proclaimed as she started walking towards a table with three large capsules on it. Eliza: When I got to Exile, it was basically just an oasis. It was awesome. But, there was nothing but a table with three big balls on it, with a note. Eliza took the note off the table and began reading, “Welcome to Exile Island. You must pick one of the three capsules. One of them contain a clue to the immunity idol, another gives you a private reward, and another will surprise your tribe with a reward after Tribal Council. “Obviously I’ll take the clue,” Eliza took the first capsule. “Hopefully the idol isn’t a —ing stick.” She laughed. Eliza began reading the clue, “Clue number one. The hidden immunity idol is not where you are stranded. It is hidden where you were landed. Before you begin to nag, it is around your tribe flag.” Eliza folded her arms. Eliza: I’m gonna be on Exile for at least another twenty-four hours and I have nothing to do. The idol is hidden at camp, how am I going to look for it without everyone looking suspicious? Day 03: Kushiro Ozzy and Matthew were talking. “We have to vote out Ozzy 2.0,” Ozzy said. “Why? He’s a great asset to our team,” Matthew responded. “We have to vote out Tessa or Rosey, and team up with Carter and Matthew. Tessa and Rosey did horribly.” “And that’s good,” Ozzy implied. “It may be bad that they suck, but we need to keep them around for the merge because they’re likable and will be seen as threats.” Matthew: Ozzy’s ego is getting the best of him. He only wants to get rid of Ozzy 2.0 because he thinks that he’s trying to take his spot as (sarcastically) best Survivor contestant ever. “It’s probably one of us,” Tessa said to Rosey. “I really am gonna miss you, even though it’s only been three days.” She hugged Rosey tightly. “I’m gonna miss you too,” Rosey shed a little tear. “But we can’t give up now. Follow me.” The two girls went to Chester. “Listen, we’re voting for Ozzy. We want you to do the same.” Rosey said. “Okay,” Chester said. “How about you tell Matthew?” “Let me go find him.” Matthew met up with the group and he agreed on voting out Ozzy. The screen switched to Tessa talking to Ozzy 2.0. “They want me out?” Ozzy 2.0 said. “You just have to listen to me, okay?” Tessa said. “Vote for Ozzy and you’ll be safe.” “Umm... Okay.” Ozzy 2.0: If Tessa thinks I’m voting out my idol, she has another thing coming! The screen switched to Matthew and Chester talking to Ozzy. “They want you out,” Chester said. “You have to vote for 2.0, alright?” Ozzy said. “Sure,” the two said in unison. “That’s all we need,” Ozzy declared. “Best case scenario is it’ll be a three—two—one vote.” “Wow,” Chester said. “Smart.” The six castaways started walking toward Tribal Council. “Behind each of you is a torch, go ahead and grab a torch, approach a flame, and get fire,” Jeff Probst instructed. The six did as told. “This is part of the ritual of Tribal Council because in this game, fire represents your life. As long as you have fire, you are still in this game. If your fire’s out, so are you. That will be the case for one of you, tonight.” As the six sat down on tree stumps, Jeff sat down on his. “Let’s go back to the beginning of this game,” Jeff said. “Chester, what do you think about three people, after going on a long boat ride, they go home right after?” “Jeff, that was cruel.” Chester said. “Nobody should ever leave on day one after going through the whole casting process. It’s horrible.” “Ozzy 2.0,” Jeff called. “Three days in, already voting someone out. What happened?” “We lost,” Ozzy 2.0 said. “It’s Survivor for you. That’s how the game works. But honestly, I’d put all the blame on Tessa.” Rosey defended her friend, “What are you talking about?! At least she participated in the challenge today.” “But she did horribly,” Ozzy 2.0 argued. “She’s definitely the weakest link in the tribe.” “I don’t understand why,” Tessa looked confused. “I surf a lot. Takes a lot of willpower to do that.” “You and Rosey took forever to go up the first part of the challenge!” Ozzy 2.0 continued. “It’s either you or Rosey.” Tessa folded her arms, “It was Rosey.” Rosey gasped. “Tessa, why would you throw me under the bus like that?” “I... don’t know what that means,” Tessa said. “But I’m sorry.” “I accept,” Rosey smiled. “Ozzy,” Jeff said. “Do you think there’s something going on between those two?” “There’s definitely something between them,” Ozzy answered. “They spend a lot of time together at camp, avoiding everyone else. Rosey asked if she can be paired up with Tessa. They might be in an alliance.” “Would this mean you would try to break them up?” Jeff followed up. “Yes,” Ozzy 2.0 said. Rosey and Tessa looked at each other. “Ozzy 2.0,” Rosey whispered to Tessa as Tessa nodded. “And on that,” Jeff stood up. “It is time to vote. Chester, you’re up.” Chester went to the voting booth. When he was done voting, Ozzy went. Ozzy wrote ‘2.o’ on his parchment. He showed it to the camera, and said “You’re just a wannabe. A wannabe me.” He put his vote in the urn. Ozzy walked back to the others, as Rosey started walking to the booth. As Rosey was in the middle of walking, the screen showed Matthew walking, and then Ozzy 2.0 walking. Ozzy 2.0 wrote ‘TESSA’ on his parchment. He showed it to the camera, and said “You are an introvert, staying away from the tribe. You have shown to be the weakest link these past couple of days, and, well, you don’t deserve to be here.” He put his vote in the urn, “Sayonara.” Ozzy 2.0 returned to the group, and Tessa went to vote. When she completed, she returned to the other five and sat down. “I’ll go tally the votes,” Jeff Probst said as he started walking toward the urn. He came back with the urn full of votes. “If anybody has the Hidden Immunity Idol and would like to play it, now would be the time to do so.” Nobody got up. “Okay. Once the votes are read, the decision is final. Person voted out will be asked to leave the Tribal Council area immediately. I’ll read the votes.” “First vote: Ozzy 2.0.” Ozzy 2.0 looked at Rosey. “Tessa.” Rosey looked nervous. Ozzy 2.0 grinned. “Ozzy 2.0. That’s two votes Ozzy 2.0, one vote Tessa.” Ozzy 2.0’s grin fell off his face. “Ozzy 2.0. That’s three votes Ozzy 2.0.” Ozzy smiled as a tear was seen on Ozzy 2.0’s face. “First person voted out of Survivor: Japan: Ozzy 2.0. That’s four, that’s enough. You have to bring me your torch.” “I thought I had a good place in this tribe,” Ozzy 2.0 said as he got up, took his torch, and placed it in front of the host. “Ozzy 2.0,” Jeff snuffed his torch. “The tribe has spoken.” “Good luck guys,” Ozzy 2.0 looked back. “Time for you to go,” Jeff Probst said as Ozzy 2.0 walked down the stairs of the Tribal Council. “From the look of his face, it seems that he didn’t see that coming at all. Blindside? One good thing about going to Tribal Council is you will leave here with fire.” Jeff threw flint to Tessa. “Grab your torches, head back to camp. Goodnight.” The tribe of five began walking out of the council with their torches in an orderly line. “No matter how short this experience was and no matter how long I wish it’d have been, this will always be my favorite thing I’ve ever done. But I do think I’ll need to have a new inspiration in life.”
