| - The Ithalua is the most unusual of the T2 cruisers. Having the lowest HP of any cruiser (albeit only just) and possessing no direct fire weaponry at all, it is virtually helpless against other naval units. However it is armed with two extremely powerful AA weapons, with a combined DPS of 624 against air units, making it possibly the best AA unit in the game and rendering it (and any ships it is accompanying) all but immune to air attack. It is also equipped with a powerful Laanse Tactical Missile Launcher, which fires virtually non-stop as soon as it comes into range, making it hard to defend against with anything but heavy Tactical Missile Defense arrays. It is also equipped with a powerful Laanse Tactical Missile Launcher, which fires virtually non-stop as soon as it comes into range, making it hard to defend against with anything but heavy Tactical Missile Defense arrays. However while it is pinpoint accurate once it finds its target, this can take a while and you can expect it to miss several shots before it adjusts its aim. Nevertheless it is devastating against large targets like factories and formations of low-tech units. As with all Seraphim anti-air weapons, the Ithalua's anti-air weapons lack the tracking abilities found in the weapons of other cruisers. This is a disadvantage with fast units such as torpedo bombers. But the Ithalua is the only cruiser with flak, making it perfect for taking out groups of units. A fleet of gunships, for instance, that can destroy a UEF, Aeon, or Cybran cruiser will not necessarily survive against a Seraphim cruiser. Granted, the AA is possibly the best in game (for cost). Although the missiles can be stopped by two tactical missile defences, this is easily countered by including a second cruiser in your attack or, if against uef missile defenses, attacking volatile structures like mass fabricators near the edge of their range in the attempt to kill it using their death explosions.
