An acceptance speech was a type of speech given when one accepted an award. In it, the recipient often thanked those who had made their work possible. In 2371, Odo questioned why Doctor Julian Bashir had been working on his acceptance speech for the Carrington Award if he believed he wasn't going to win. Surprised, Bashir asked him how he knew that; Odo admitted he'd guessed. (DS9: "Prophet Motive")
