The two Ancient Machines are guardians of the Cylinder Hangar who attack Shulk, Reyn and Fiora, mistaking them for the true threat. It is only after this that the raid on Colony 9 begins. It is later revealed that they are defence units for the High Entia. They are a type of Andos, which are later used against the war with the Mechon. They are the first bosses found in the game, Battle of Sword Valley prologue, prior to the events of Xenoblade Chronicles, not taking into account.
