Mahal is the chief dwarven god. He is a smith and the maker of the dwarves. Out of his heavenly forge he made everything the world needed, after he commanded Tuguz to form the earth. He is the god of fatherhood and leaders in addition to smiths and craftsman of all kinds. The dwarves are the only race of people created by Mahal, with all others made by lesser dwarven gods. As a father and commander, Mahal requires strict obedience from his children. He ordered the first carving of the dwarves' caverns in the rock and the stamping of his feet can cause them to cave in for the worst of sins.

He has no wife and fathers no children other than those he forges. The god of darkness sits at the right hand of his throne. Gold is the metal of Mahal and it is used extensively in his worship. For dwarves that use light, bright torches shieled by clay cups to focus the light are used in his temples to make gold reflect his glory. The worship of Mahal is in silence and reverence.
