Guillotin was a French doctor whose name was given to the guillotine, known for its use during the French Revolution. In 1914, a man in an iron mask spoke of Doctor Guillotin to Indiana Jones and his companions. The masked man praised Guillotin as a kindly doctor that had wished to make the death penalty as painless as possible and claimed that he had invented the device named after him.
