He was in contention at the front before a late fuel issue took him out with Mincey still finishing with a solid 9th place record. Mincey's next race came in 1956, when he competed at Atlanta. Starting 19th in the field, Mincey again had another fantastic race. He completed all but nine laps and wound up finishing 11th. Mincey's final career race came in 1958, when he competed yet again at Atlanta. Mincey found a way to improve upon the solid foundation he had already laid, completing all but two laps and driving his way to a career-best 5th place outing.
