  • The typical accommodations on the MK-IV Starliner contained two beds, a desk and a bathroom. (ST reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual) In the 2250s and 2260s the primary hulls of a Class I Starship (Constitution-class, Federation-class, Hermes-class, Ptolemy class-class, and the Saladin-class) contained typical crew quarters. A single stateroom for officers contained a living area (with a desk and a cabinet) and a sleeping area with a twin sized bed and wardrobe. A bathroom is shared with another officer stateroom. The typical crew quarters contained two twin sized beds and two wardrobes. (ST reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual) On the refitted Constitution class in the late 23rd century, the quarters for special VIPs (called staterooms), senior officers and junior officers were found on on Decks D and E (level 4-5). VIP staterooms were divided into three sections. A sleeping area with two beds. A bathroom area that contained a sonic shower, jacuzzi tub, toilet and walk-in closet. And finally there was a work area with a library computer terminal, a communications station, a circular dining booth and a storage area. Senior officers quarters were similar in arrangement of the VIP staterooms, but contain more personal customization to suit individual tastes and only a single bed. Junior officer quarters were smaller than their senior officer counterparts lacking the work area. The quarters for crewmembers were found on Deck F (level 6) and contained two small bedrooms that share a joining bathroom. (ST reference: Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise) When the Galaxy class was launched in the 2350s the size of the shipboard quarters had been increased. Each crewmember had been given 110 square meters of living space. This would include a bedroom, living and working area and a small bathrooms. Since Starfleet allowed families on vessels, family quarters could be requested with individual living quarters combined into one. All quarters contained Food synthesizers, sonic showers, standard showers, null-grav sleeping chambers, personal holographic viewers and provisions for pets. If a crewmember was stationed on a Galaxy class for more than six months, then they could reconfigure their quarters. The crew quarters were found on decks 9, 11, 33 and 35. Guest quarters were found on decks 5 and 6. Ten-percent of the quarters were equipped to be converted to Class H, K and L environments. Two-percent more could be converted to Class N and N(2) environments. (TNG reference: Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual)

On starships of the Galaxy class, crew members ranked lieutenant junior grade or higher were given their own quarters while personnel up to the rank of ensign were required to share quarters. (TNG: "Lower Decks" ) * Officers' quarters: Many starships featured separate quarters for higher-ranked officers. Usually, these staterooms were composed of two or more areas, featuring separate bed and bathrooms and a dedicated work and living area. (TNG: "Schisms" ) * VIP and captain's quarters: Each starship typically featured a number of VIP staterooms, reserved for guests. Usually, the accommodations of the ship's commanding officer were similar to these staterooms, being slightly larger than the standard officers' quarters. (TNG: "Sarek" ) Sometimes the captain's quarters was referred to as a cabin. (TAS: "The Survivor") * The crew quarters aboard the space station Deep Space 9 were larger than the usual guest quarters. (DS9: "The Forsaken")
