Rudyear's was founded by William Rudyear in St. Lucia in 1746. The company was quite successful there for many years. During the great depression, Rudyear's was having trouble earning money. In 1932, Ellis Rudyear moved the company to Lovia and started the business there. In 1934, he met his Hurbanovan wife, Ermania Kovalic, and together they ran the company. By the mid 1930s, sales were slow so Rudyear's merged with Brandy Montpelier to form Rudyear-Montpellier Distillers. In the 1980s, Rudyear-Montpelier joined Federal Foods Inc.
