Cha Niathal was a female Mon Calamari and senior Admiral of the Galactic Alliance Defense Force, serving as an advisor to Supreme Commander Gilad Pellaeon. After Pellaeon's resignation, Niathal assumed the post of Supreme Commander, and soon formed a political alliance with Colonel Solo. Throughout the Second Galactic Civil War, Niathal's influence grew, as did the unrest within the Galactic Alliance, to the point that she was instrumental in a coup against Chief of State Cal Omas.

- Cha Niathal was born on Mon Calamari, and at an early age, joined the military academy there. Upon graduating, Niathal was promoted to Major in the Galactic Alliance military. She quickly escaled in rank, and after the successful attack on the Killik Nests on Tenupe, became an admiral. She was known for her icy disposition and cunning reprimand, making her and unwanted superior. The only other military officer that she respected was the Admiral Nek Bwua'tu. After Gilad Pellaeon's resignation during the Second Corellian Insurgence in 40 ABY, Niathal was promoted to Supreme Commander.
