Goal total playoffs was a playoff system used mostly in amateur hockey in the early 1900s. It was also used in early Stanley Cup championships. Two teams would play two games against each other. The team with the higher amount of goals for would win the series. If the series was tied, they would either have a sudden death tiebreaker, a third game, or replay the series if time permitted.
