The President of the Republic, commonly known as the President is the elective head of state of the Trigunian Republic. The President is elected directly by the people through popular vote. If in the first round, there is no clear victor, a second round is held between the top two ranking candidates. The President has one significant power, which is to introduce Presidential Decrees. These act as normal bill proposals to the People's Assembly, with two exceptions: 1. The creation of new political institutions and bodies MUST be through Presidential Decree.

Declarations of war MUST be through Presidential Decree. These two exceptions give the President extensive powers over the way the nation is run. Also, the President is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and has the power to appoint certain positions in regional governments.
