  • The Alliance Security Agency, abbreviated ASA, also called Alliance Security Force, Alliance Internal Affairs, and most commonly just Alliance Security, was the military police of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, though many thought it was the secret police of the Alliance High Command. The Galactic Empire's Imperial Intelligence said it was the Rebel Alliance equivalent to the Imperial Security Bureau. It was made up of elite agents who were Force-sensitive to some extent, while regular policemen were in the Alliance Military Police, whom they worked with. At least one was a former Cipher agent of the Jedi Order's Temple Security Force, and trained the agents of ASA in the unique combat style that they used. After the Galactic Civil War, it was replaced by the New Republic Security Service, and most agents served in both it and the revived Temple Security of the New Jedi Order. The Security Agency carried out both internal tasks as well as operations against the Empire, though these were limited to items of peculiar interest to Alliance High Command. They were known to work with the Rebel Alliance Intelligence Agency. Meanwhile, the Bothans had a dislike to them, as the Security Agency was an influential organization within the upper echelons of the Rebellion that they did not control. Moreover, the Security was suspected of monitoring Bothan figures within the Alliance. Luke Skywalker often had them carry out operations for him personally, which enraged Rebel Alliance Special Forces. They wore green, yellow, and black robes with circular symbols in on the torsos of the robes. They also wore elegant straw hats, colored green and black, with red plumes. Those were the same uniforms used by Ciphers of the Temple Security Force; something which former Cipher Zhao Kiriyama had them do. Though a general officially controlled the Agency, it was really run by Zhao, who reported directly to Skywalker and members of Command.
