Marcia Carol Martin Anderson (née Mahan) became in 2011 the first African-American woman to achieve the rank of major general in the United States Army Reserve. She was born 1958 in Beloit, Wisconsin, and finished school in East St. Louis, Illinois. As a civilian, General Anderson serves as clerk for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. A graduate of Creighton University and Rutgers Law School, she is married to Amos Charles Anderson. The couple lives in Wisconsin.
