This may not actually be considered a scam, as it is just normal overpricing, unless a deliberate attempt is made to mislead about what it is or does, which can be reported under Item Scamming (Honour). The key is a problem item to price, as it is relatively uncommon, though it would be an exaggeration to call it rare. The key is obtained as an uncommon drop from Chaos Dwarves, and a more common drop from Chaos dwarf hand cannoneers and Chaos dwogres. It is used to open the Muddy Chest in the Lava Maze, an area in the Wilderness. The value of this key is slightly lower than the value of the prizes inside the chest, being about 5,000 to 50,000 coins, depending on the Grand Exchange prices of the items in the chest. Inside the chest is always:
* an Uncut ruby
* a Mithril bar
* a Mithril dagger
* an Anchovy pizza
* 2 law runes
* 2 death runes
* 10 chaos runes
* 50 coins The hotspot to do this scam was in the old Varrock west bank in world 1. There was reported two players who scammed over 40m within two weeks with this scam, who also scammed people with polished buttons & orange slices.
