He played junior hockey in his hometown of Port Arthur. His team, the Port Arthur West End Bruins, won the Memorial Cup in 1948. Creighton started his National Hockey League career with the Boston Bruins in 1948. He would also play with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Black Hawks, and New York Rangers. He left the NHL after the 1960 season. He played several more seasons in the AHL before retiring after the 1969 season. In 616 NHL games, he scored 140 goals and 174 assists. Creighton also scored 11 goals and 13 assists in 51 playoff games.
