The Konservative Partei leadership election was called after the resignation of leader David Wehrmann due to the loss of seats during the General Election, 4187. The result of the popular vote ballot was that Rudolf Hammond, the Finance Spokesman for the Konservative Partei, was elected but with a lower majority than the previous leader had been elected on, now just 5.4%. The runner-up of the ballot, Ernst Kolbeck was then elected in the newly established position of Deputy Leader. Both were elected using multiple-round voting where candidates are narrowed down to just two, and then the ballot goes to the membership of the party.
