| - Weißt du, ich bin ein einfacher College Student, der alleine in einer Wohnung lebt. Hier in den Staaten, war ich sehr begeistert, über die Veröffentlichung von Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver. Bewusst habe ich mich von den Medien und dem Internet wegen der Schule ausgeschlossen. Das bedeutet kein 4chan, kein /v/, kein Bulbapedia, etc. Als ich mit dem Schuljahr beschäftigt war und zu der Zeit arm war, war ich nicht in der Lage SoulSilver an seinem Erscheinungstag zu kaufen. Als mein Schuljahr zu Ende war, bestellte ich es auf Amazon. Jedoch würde es eine Woche dauern, bis es ankommen würde. Ich entschied mich während dieser Zeit meine Crystal Version nochmals auf meinem Gameboy Color zu spielen. Jedoch, bemerkte ich, dass es meine Mutter vor langer Zeit weggeworfen hatte da ich ihr sagte, dass der Speicher voll war, und darüber war ich dann sehr traurig. Sie hat auch meine Silver Version weggeworfen, also ist alles was ich habe mein Gameboy Color. So, brach ich auf zu Gamestop und kaufte mir eine Gebrauchte Version SoulSilver, da es die einzige ist, die sie noch für den GBC haben. Zehn Dollar – ein fairer Preis. Ich ging nach Hause und startete es für einen Nostalgien-Trip. Jedoch, begannen hier die Dinge komisch zu werden und das ist der meiste Grund, warum du das liest. Das Gamefreak Logo startete wie immer, aber es fror einfach ein. Ich dachte die Karte wäre beschädigt oder so, also schaltete ich es wieder aus und ein. Dasselbe passierte. Ich versuchte immer und immer wieder „A“ zu drücken und „Start“ und alle anderen Knöpfe. Schließlich, verschwand das Logo und ein schwarzer Hintergrund tauchte dort für 5 Sekunden auf. Plötzlich, anstatt zu dem gewöhnlichen Menu zu gehen, war ich bereits im Spiel drin, auf einem vorherigen Speicherplatz, welches hinzugefügt wurde als ich annahm alle diese Karten seien von der schwachen Batterie beschädigt worden. In jedem Fall, habe ich mich nicht beschwert, als ich die „Fortfahren“ Option auswählte, um zu schauen, was der vorherige Kerl bisher sowieso gemacht hatte. Als erstes überprüfte ich seine Information zum Trainer. Sein Name war ainfach „…“ – er besaß nicht viel Originalität. Ich überprüfte sein Profil und anscheinend hatte er 999:99 Stunden in das Spiel investiert, mit allen 16 Orden, 99999.9 Pokémondollar und allen 251 Pokémon auf dem Pokédex. Angesichts dessen, dass er offenbar Mew und Celebi auch aufgezeichnet hatte, dachte ich er benutzte entweder einen Game Genie oder er war ein wirklicher Pokémon hardcore Player zu der Zeit gewesen. Ich überprüfte seine Pokemon um zu sehen, was für ein knallhartes Team er hatte. Zu meiner Überraschung sah ich, 5 Icognitos und ein sechstes Pokemon das „HURRY“ hieß. Ich dachte, dass muss ein grausamer Scherz sein von der Person, die das Spiel zuletzt gespielt hatte, aber ich entschied mich dazu die Profile der Pokemon dennoch zu überprüfen. Wie erwartet standen dort verschiedene Buchstaben von „Unown“, alle Level 5. Zu der Zeit war ich etwas unsicher mit meinem Icognitos Alphabet, doch ich identifizierte, dass man dieses Wort „VERLASSEN“ aussprach. So müsste es für das sechste Pokemon ein Cyndaquil sein (beachte, das war bevor es individualisierte Pokémon icons gab). Das Cyndaquil sah normal aus, doch es war Level 5 mit nur 1 KP mit zwei Attacken: „Leer“ und „Licht“. Ich weiß nicht, warum er ihn „HURRY“ genannt hat, aber zu der Zeit habe ich es einfach ignoriert. Das unheimlichste an der ganzen Sache war jedoch, obwohl, dass die Lautstärke auf max. gestellt war, keiner der Pokémon ihre bekannten Laute von sich gaben. Einfach pure Stille. Ich hatte genug von dem Team und schloss es. Ich blieb bei etwas stehen, was wie ein Raum in Bellsprout Tower wirkte. Jedoch, waren aus irgendeinem Grund keine NPC’s dort. Noch unheimlicher war es, dass sich „Pillar“ in der Mitte überhaupt gar nicht bewegte, so als ob es einfach an der Seite lehnen würde. Da war überhaupt keine Musik, und dort war kein Ausgang oder keine Leiter, zumindest hatte ich gedacht da würde es keine geben. Ich lief für einige Minuten umher, aber es schien nicht so als würde ich einen Ausgang finden. Mit Sicherheit, war dies kein Raum den ich in der Bellsprout Tower zuvor gesehen hatte. Ich versuchte meine Items nach einem Fluchtseil zu überprüfen, doch die Tasche war komplett leer. Da war nicht mal ein wildes Pokémon. Schließlich, hatte ich es geschafft eine Leiter zu finden, es stellte sich heraus, dass sie hinter „pillar“ war. Der Hintergrund wurde schwarz und endlich begann die Musik zu laufen. Ich hatte eine plötzliche Ruhe, als ich die Musik wiedererkannte, ich hörte es ist der Theme-Song, den man hört, wenn man dem Radio zuhört bei den Alph Ruinen, wo die Icognitos waren. Sofort bemerkte ich, dass es kein Ladeübergang war, doch war ich eher in einem schwarzen Raum und würde Licht brauchen. Bevor ich mich jedoch darum kümmerte überprüfte ich sofort meinen Pokégear, um das Radio gegen etwas mehr angenehmeres auszutauschen, doch es stellte sich heraus, dass da keine Radiokarte oder mal eine Telefon- gar Zeitkarte. Dort war nur eine Karte in welche Gold (“…“ von früher und ich werde ihn ab jetzt Gold nennen) einfach inmitten von Schwärze lief. Ich entsann mich, dass Cyndaquil Licht hatte, also schloss ich den Pokégear und ließ Cyndaquil licht einsetzen. Ich sah keine Nachricht, die sagte: “HURRY setzte Licht ein!“ oder etwas in der Art. Der Raum erhellte einfach so und bald hatte ich es bereut. Der Raum war ein abschreckendes blutrot mit einem gradlinigen grauen Pfad Richtung Süden. Die Leiter, die ich benutze um hoch/runter zu gehen war dort überhaupt nicht mehr. Ich hatte keine andere Wahl als mich im Süden zu halten. Der Hintergrund wurde immer dunkler mit jeden der 20 Schritte, die ich machte, bis ich endlich das Ende erreicht hatte, welches ein Schild zu sein schien. Ich las das Schild, worauf stand: „DREH DICH NUN UM.“ Plötzlich wurde ich gefragt mit JA/NEIN zu antworten, doch es wurde keine Frage gestellt. Ich wählte JA, doch ich hatte keine Ahnung, was es fragte, und der Hintergrund wurde wieder schwarz, ein „kletter“ sound ertönte. Die Unown Radiomusik stoppte und in ein paar Minuten setzte eine nicht-so-gruselige Pokeflötenmusik ein. Ich befand mich in einem anderen dunklen Raum, doch ich hielt die Luft an und setzte erneut Licht ein. Plötzlich sagte es „HURRY ist verschwunden!“, was hinzugefügt wurde seit ich mich entsinne, da kein Konditionsstatus stand wie etwa Gift auf ihm, und ich war sicherlich in keinem Kampf. Schnell überprüfte ich mein Pokémon und plötzlich ist er nicht mehr in meiner Mannschaft. Tatsächlich – nach einigen Überprüfungen – waren keiner meiner Pokemon da, aber stattdessen waren sie alle auf Level 10 Icognitos zurückgesetzt. Wieder machte ich das gleiche, wie zuvor und buchstabierte Icognitos. Mein jetziges Team of unown buchstabiert man „ERISTGESTORBEN“. In jedem Fall, nach dieser gruseligen Veränderung war der Raum zu meiner Verwunderung in einem sehr kleinen Raum beleuchtet, dass anscheinend nur vier Quadratmeter groß war. Die Wände des Raumes bestanden aus grauen Ziegelsteinen, als ob ich mich in etwas ausgeholtem befinden würde. Außerhalb dieses Raumes schien sich etwas zu befinden, das wie ein Haufen Gräber aussah, ähnlich zu denen aus Pokémon Red/Blue. Ich lief in dem Raum umher und drückte A, doch nichts passierte. Ich habe bereits festgestellt, dass dieses Spiel gehackt wurde und einige sadistische Scheißkerle hatten es an Gamestop verkauft. Jedoch, hielt meine Neugierde an. Erneut überprüfte ich das Trainerprofil von “…“, nur um dann herauszufinden, dass Gold’s Sprite seine Arme vermisste. Auch scheint er weniger mit sich selbstzufrieden zu sein als mehr traurig und leer in einer Art, die ich kaum beschreiben kann. Aus irgendeinem Grund wird nun gesagt er hätte 24 Orden, was sichtlich unmöglich war. Nach einigen Minuten ziellosen fragen, drehte sich mein Charakter plötzlich um und führte die drehende Escape Rope Animation durch. Anstatt jedoch hochzufliegen, drehte sich mein Charakter nach untenhin, als würde er sinken. Nach diesem Hintergrund, stoppte die Musik. Nach der Landung, ist die Oberwelt von Sprite Gold jetzt verschieden farbig. Anstatt der roten Farbe, die er gewöhnlich aufsetzte schien er komplett weiß zu sein, samt seiner Haut. Es ist, als ob er direkt von den ungefärbten Gameboy Spielen kommt, eingesetzt in den gefärbten Hintergrund des Gameboy Colors. Ich überprüfte sein Profil und nun – während es nun so weiß war, wie sein Oberwelt Geist – verlor es seine Beine und etwas, was wie blutige Tränen aussah liefen seine Augen herunter. Nun hieß es auch das er 32 Orden hatte, was mich verstörte, da dieser Wechsel der Nummer etwas zu zeigen schien, was wichtig war. Auch überprüfte ich meine Pokémon, was dieses Mal 5 Icognitos und ein Level 100 Celebi ohne einen Spitznamen beinhaltete. Dieses Mal waren die Icognitos auf Level 15 gelevelt und man sprach sie “STERBEN“ aus. Ich überprüfte das Profil des Celebi. Es war ein shiny Pokémon, doch da war nur die Hälfte des Geistes. Ein Bein, ein Arm, ein Auge. Es hat nur eine Attacke: „Perish Song“. Das Gebiet selbst war das Sprout Tower mit dem unbeweglichen Säule, außer das jetzt alles scheinbar rot war. Ich lief nördlich, was sich wie eine Ewigkeit anfühlte. Endlich traf ich auf gewöhnliche Mann und Frau NPCs. Sie waren alle an einer Seite aufgereiht, schauten einfach die slantische Säule in der Mitte an. Auch sie waren weiß und nichts passierte, als ich versuchte mit ihnen zu reden. Ich lief weiter nördlich bis die Säule scheinbar an dieser Stelle von einem transparenten Rot abgehackt wurde. Ich ging zu Red und ohne A zu drücken wurde ich plötzlich eingeweiht und endlich in einem Kampf eingewickelt. Erneut startete die Musik, was sich wieder wie die Icognito musik anhörte, doch rückwärts abgespielt. Gold’s Sprite traf auf sein Gegenüber mit den blutigen Augen, der weißen Haut und fehlenden Armen, während Red’s Sprite derselbe wie auch zuvor im GSC war, nur durchsichtig. Der Text sagte einfach „möchte kämpfen!“ als habe er keinen Namen und wir beide hatten nur ein einziges Pokemon, was seltsam war, da ich schwor, dass ich sechs hatte mit den Icognitos. Mein shiny Celebi kam bequem heraus mit ein-halb-Sprite auch für den anderen Sprite. Die „Shiny“ Geräusche und Animation war anderes, als würden sie sich wie zusammengefügte„Kratz“ Attacken anhören, die nacheinander benutzt werden. Red sendete ein augenscheinliches, normales männliches Pikachu, außer, dass er Level 255 war und sein Sprite traurig schien und Tränen in den Augen hatte. Anstatt das gewöhnliche „KÄMPFE/ITEM/PKMN/WEGRENNEN“-menü zu nutzen, hatte ich nur die Möglichkeit meine Attacken zu nutzen. Da Celebi nur eins hatte, wählte ich es aus. Natürlich begann der Pikachu als erstes, da er Level 255 war. „PIKACHU SETZTE FLUCH EIN!“, verlangsamte seine Geschwindigkeit und erhöhte seine anderen Statten. Ich bin mir nicht mal sicher, ob Pikachu Fluch nutzen konnte. „CELEBI benutzte PERISH SONG!“ In drei Runden gingen beide Pokémon K.O. – nicht das ich eine Wahl gehabt hätte. Ab diesem Punkt, ging ich nicht mal zurück zum Kampfmenü, als der Kampf einfach ohne mich fortfuhr. Auch bemerkte ich, dass dort aus irgendeinem Grund überhaupt keine Animationen waren. „PIKACHU setzte DRESCHEN ein!“, was nicht viel Schaden anrichtete außer seinem Level und dass er seine Gesundheit auf max hochstufte. „CELEBI setzte PERISH SONG ein!“ Es passierte nichts, da es bereits benutzt wurde. „PIKACHU setzte FRUSTRATION ein!“, haute Celebi weg zu weniger als 10 KP, was einen verdammten Schaden anrichtete. „CELEBI setzte Schmerzzerteiler ein!“, was mich überraschte, da Celebi es nicht mal als erstes hatte. Jetzt haben Pikachu und Celebi beide ungefähr 150 KP. „PIKACHU setzte BLICK ein!“ Nicht, das etwas ausmachte. Wie erwartet, verschwand mein Celebi während der Effekte von Perish Song. Im Text stand dann: „CELEBI ist gestorben!“ und anstatt des gewöhnlichen Falls von der Hintergrundanimation verschwand der Celebi Sprite einfach. Aus irgendeinem Grund, war das Pikachu immer noch mit Perish Song da und rechnete nicht mal mit meinem Verlust. Pikachu setzte eine weitere Attacke ein außerhalb von den 5 Attackenlimits: „PIKACHU setzte SCHICKSALSSCHLAG ein!“ Im Nachhinein sagte es „PIKACHU ist gestorben!“, mit einer langsamen Verschwind Animation. Offensichtlich, war ich der Sieger als der Red-Sprite aufschaute und „………….“ Sagte. An dieser Stelle drehte ich einfach durch, als der Red-Sprite plötzlich enthauptetwurde und nichts weiter zurückließ, als seinen durchsichtigen Körper. An dieser Stelle endete der Kampf und verschwand samt der Musik. Ich bin zurück in der overworld mit einer Veränderung vom Gold-Sprite – jetzt ist er genauso durchsichtig wie Red’s overworld Sprite. Ich überprüfte schnell Gold’s Profil, wo an dieser Stelle nur sein Kopf mit einer durchsichtigen Haut an ihn erinnerten. Der Kopf wurde ein bisschen herangezoomt, eine schwarze Leere in seinen Augen zeigend. Jetzt stand dort, dass er 40 Orden hatte. Danach ging ich zurück und checkte meine Pokemon. Das waren alles Shinney Icognitos Level 20, die beim buchstabieren „NICHTMEHR“ ausgesprochen wurden. Ich war an einem Punkt angekommen, wo ich wusste das es das Ende war. Es spielte offenbar keine Musik mehr, doch aus irgendeinem Grund hatte ich ein Gefühl das es noch etwas gibt, dass gehört werden konnte. Ich war zurück in meinem Zimmer in New Bark Town. Vielleicht würde ich das Spiel endlich richtig spielen können, aber wer bin ich schon der sich Scherze erlaubt. Ich wusste, dass der sadistische Scheißkerl etwas angerichtet hatte. Ich „lief“ entlang meines Zimmers, um mich mit Sachen zu interagieren, da ich etwas ängstlich war, um zu sehen was mich unten erwartete. Beachte ich sagte „laufen“ während sich der Hintergrund bewegte, bewegte Gold seine durchsichtigen Glieder nicht während er nur so tat als ob, schwebte er einfach wie diese Geister, die man in Diamant/Perle sieht. Wie erwartet liefen das Radio, der Computer und der Fernseher nicht, daher hatte ich keine andere Wahl als hinunterzugehen. Ich endete in demselben eifachem Level Raum von meinem Haus. Alles schien normal, außer das Mom nicht zu Hause war. Nachdem ich durch Fehlversuche versucht hatte etwas in diesem Raum zu interagieren, entschied ich mich raus zu gehen. Zu meiner Überraschung funktionierte die Tür, die nach draußen führte, nicht und ich lief direkt in eine Leere hinein. Ich ging weiter Richtung Süden, um zu schauen was zum Teufel los war. Mein Haus verschwand als ich den Süden in einer Leere erreicht hatte. Es wurde gruselig, als– nachdem ich in die Leere eintrat – der Umriss auf Gold’s durchsichtigem Geist zu weiß wechselte im Konstrast mit einem Pechschwarzen. Schließlich, erreichte ich ein weißes Gebiet und Gold’s Geist wechselte zu schwarz und wurde wieder undurchsichtig. Ich lief weiter in Richtung Süden ohne überhaupt daran zu denken aufzuhören. Nach einer langen Wanderung nach Süden, taff ich endlich auf etwas. Es war GOLD’s regulärer Geist. Ich mit ihm. Er sagte: „Auf Wiedersehen für immer …….“ (mit einem Leerzeichen zwischen für immer und ……. Wohlbemerkt), und verschwand. Als das passierte sagte es: „??? setzte „ALBTRAUM ein!“, zudem Zeitpunkt würde ich nicht leugnen, dass es nicht möglich wäre. Gold machte eine andere Escape Rope animation, drehte sich langsam nach unten, so wie zuvor. Nun bin ich zurück in diesem ausgehohlten Raum mit den Gräben von vorhin. Oder besser gesagt, ich war wieder dort, wo es keinen Geist mehr gibt. Ich versuchte herum zu laufen aber nichts tat sich – nicht einmal ein zusammenstoßendes Geräusch der Wände. Ich überprüfte mein Trainerprofil mit keinem zurückgebliebenen Gold-Geist. Es sagte ich hatte 0 Orden und alle Bilder von den Johto Gym Leaders auf dem Boden waren durch Totenköpfe ersetzt. Ich überprüfte meine Pokemon, die alle Level 25 Icognitos waren. Wie erwartet buchstabierten sie ein Satz aus, den ich wagte zu lesen: „IMDEAD.“ So bald wie ich zur overworld zurückkehrte der Raum in dem ich angeblich drin war, war mit den selben Blöcken bedeckt, wie auch die anderen Wände. Als der Text schließlich: „R.I.P …“ lautete, fand ich heraus, was genau das für ein Raum war. Dieser Raum war ein riesiger Grab, umgeben von anderen Gräbern. Gold war bereits tod. Er starb womöglich einige Jahre nachdem er gegen Red angetreten war. Er war ein junger Trainer der, trotz seiner Mühe in sammeln von Orden und Abzeichen um ein Pokemon master zu werden, dennoch unfähig war den zwangsläufigen Weg des Todes zu vermeiden, und seine Mühen wurden schließlich mit der nächsten Generation vergessen. Ich war nicht in der Lage vom Text zu fliehen, ganz egal, was ich drückte. Ich versuchte das Spiel neuzustarten, und dasselbe passierte, wodurch ich mich schließlich dazu entschied den grausamen Albtraum aufzugeben. Nach dieser Erfahrung werde ich nie wieder nach dem „Trick“ Icognito durch das gleiche schauen. Sie sagen nur die erste Generation hat Volksmärchen und Legenden, doch die zweite Generation hat mir gezeigt wie unangenehm die Wahrheit sein kann. Schließlich habe ich Soulsilver sehr genossen, doch ich kann immer noch nicht nicht daran denken, was dieses steife Spiel mir erzählt hat.
- __NOEDITSECTION__ You see, I am a simple college student living alone in an apartment. I was very enthusiastic about the release of Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver here in the states. I have purposely locked myself out of all media and the Internet aside for school purposes. That means no 4chan, no /v/, no Bulbapedia, etc. As I was busy with the school year and being poor at the time, I wasn't able to buy SoulSilver on its launch date. After my school year ended, I ordered SoulSilver on Amazon. However, it would take a week for it to arrive. I decided that during that time, I would replay my Crystal version on my Gameboy Color. However, I realized that long ago, my mom threw it away because I told her the save went dead, and I was very upset about it then. She also threw away my Silver version, so all I have is my Gameboy Color. As such, I set out to Gamestop and bought a used Silver version, as it's the only Pokémon game left that they have for the GBC. Ten dollars – fairly cheap. I went home and started it up for a nostalgia trip. However, that's where things started getting bizarre, and most likely the reason why you read this. The Gamefreak logo started up as normal, but it just froze there. I thought the cart was just errored or something, so I turned it off and on. The same thing happened. I tried pressing A and Start over and over, and all of the buttons. Eventually, the logo vanished and there was a black screen for about five seconds. Suddenly, rather than going to the usual menu screen, I was already in the game in a previous saved file, which was odd as I was expecting all of these carts to have been wiped by the poor battery. Either way, I wasn't complaining, as I would have chosen the "Continue" option to see what the previous guy did anyways. First off, I checked his trainer information. His name was just "…" – He didn't have much originality. I checked his profile and apparently he had 999:99 hours put into the game, with all 16 badges, 99999.9 Pokédollars, and all 251 Pokémon on the Pokédex. Seeing as he apparently had Mew and Celebi logged also, I am guessing he either used a Game Genie or was a really hardcore Pokémon player back then. I checked his Pokémon to see what a badass team he has. To my surprise, I saw 5 Unowns and a sixth Pokémon named "HURRY". I'm thinking that this must be some cruel joke by the person who last played this game, but I decided to check the profiles of those Pokémon anyways. As expected, they were different letters of Unown, all Level 5. I was a bit shaky with my Unown alphabet at the time, but I identified the word spelled out to be "LEAVE". As for the sixth Pokémon, it turned out to be a Cyndaquil (mind you, this is before there were individualized Pokémon icons). The Cyndaquil looked normal, but it was Level 5 with only 1 HP left with only two attacks: "Leer" and "Flash". I don't know why they named him "HURRY", but at the time, I just disregarded it. The most eerie thing was that, despite my volume being at max, none of the Pokémon he had said their usual cries. Just pure silence. Having enough of the team, I closed it. I was parked at what appears to be a room inside Bellsprout Tower. However, for some reason, there were no NPCs around. Even more eerie was that the "pillar" in the middle didn't move at all, as if just leaning on its side. There was no music at all, and there was no exit or ladder, or least I thought there wasn't. I walked around for a few minutes but can't seem to find a way out. This was certainly not a room I've seen in the Bellsprout Tower before. I tried checking my items for an Escape Rope, but the bag was completely empty. There wasn't any Wild Pokémon either. Finally, I managed to find a ladder, which turned out to be behind the "pillar". The screen turned black and the music finally started playing. I had a sudden chill, as I recognize that melody I heard to be the theme you hear when you listened to the radio at the Alph Ruins where the Unown are at. I immediately realize that it wasn't a loading transition, but rather I was in a dark room and would need Flash. Before I took care of that though, I immediately checked my Pokégear to change the radio to something more pleasant, but it turns out that there was no Radio card, or even a Phone nor Time cards. There was only a Map card in which Gold ("…" from earlier, and I will call him Gold from now on) was just walking in a midst of black. I recall that Cyndaquil has Flash, so I turned off my Pokégear and made Cyndaquil use Flash. I didn't see any message saying "HURRY has used Flash!" or anything like that. The room just became lit just like that, and I soon regretted it. The room was a chilling blood-red with a linear gray path heading south. The ladder I used to go up/down was not there at all. I had no choice but to head south. The screen got darker every 20 steps I made, until I finally made it to the end, which appears to be a sign. I read the sign, which said "TURN BACK NOW". Suddenly, I was asked to answer YES/NO, but there was no question asked. I chose YES as I do not know what it was asking, and the screen went black again, making a "ladder climbed" sound. The Unown Radio music stopped, and in a few seconds was replaced with the not-as-creepy Poké Flute radio music. I was in another dark room, but I held my breath and used Flash again. Suddenly, it said that "HURRY has fainted!" which was odd since I recall that there was no status conditions like Poison on him, and I clearly wasn't in a battle. I checked my Pokémon quickly and suddenly he's no longer in my party. In fact, after a bit of investigating, none of my Pokémon are there, but instead all replaced with Level 10 Unown. I did the same thing as before and spelled out the Unown. My then team of Unown spelled "HEDIED". Either way, after that creepy change, the room was lit to reveal myself in a very small room that appears to be only four squares big. The walls of that room were gray bricks, as if I was inside something that was hollowed out. Outside that room appears to be a bunch of graves similar to the ones in Pokémon Red/Blue. I've walked around that small room and pressed A but nothing happened. I've already concluded that this was clearly a hacked game and some sadistic fuck sold it to GameStop. However, my curiosity kept me going. I checked the trainer profile of "…" again only to find out that the sprite of Gold was missing his arms. He also seems to appear less smug, but rather seems more sad and empty in a way that I do not know how to describe. For some reason, it also now said that he has 24 badges, which was clearly impossible. After a few minutes of aimless wondering, my character suddenly spun and did the Escape Rope spinning animation. Instead of flying up though, my character spun downwards slowly, as if sinking. After that screen, the music stopped. After finally landing, the overworld sprite of Gold is coloured differently now. Instead of the usual red colour he dons, he appears completely white now, including his skin. It's as if he came straight from the colorless Game Boy games placed into a colored background of the Gameboy Color. I checked his profile, and now, while now is as white as his overworld sprite, he lost his legs and has what appears to be bloody tears from his eyes. It also says he now has 32 badges, which now starts to disturb me as this change of number seems to represent something important. I also checked my Pokémon, which this time contains 5 Unowns and a Level 100 Celebi without a nickname. The Unown are this time Leveled 15 and spelled out "DYING". I checked the Celebi's profile. It was a shiny Celebi, except there's only half of the sprite. One leg, one arm, one eye. It only has one attack: "Perish Song". The area I was in itself was the Sprout Tower with the immobile pillar as before, except everything is apparently red now. I walked north for what felt like forever. Eventually, I finally encountered some generic men and women NPC. They were all lined up to the side just facing the long slantish pillar in the middle. They were also white, and nothing happens when I try to speak to them. I kept on going north until eventually the pillar finally appears chopped off, with a transparent Red in that spot. I went up to Red and without even pressing A, I was suddenly engaged and finally in a battle. The music starts again, which it sounds like the Unown Radio music again, but played backwards. Gold's battle backsprite matches his front one with the bloody eyes, white skin, and lack of arms, while Red's sprite was the same as before in GSC, except transparent. The text simply said "wants to battle!" as if he has no name, and both of us only have one Pokémon each, which is weird as I swore I had six with the Unowns. My shiny Celebi came out, conveniently with half-a-sprite for the back sprite also. The "Shiny" noise and animation was different, as the sounds it made sound like multiple "Screech" attacks used consecutively. Red sent out a seemingly normal male Pikachu, except he is Level 255 and his sprite seems sad and has tears in his eyes. Rather than the usual "FIGHT/ITEM/PKMN/RUN" menu, I was only given the option to use the Attacks. Since Celebi only has one, I chose it. Naturally, since Pikachu was Level 255, he went first. "PIKACHU used CURSE!", lowering his Speed and increasing his other Stats. I'm not even sure if Pikachu could use Curse. "CELEBI used PERISH SONG!" In three turns, both Pokémon get KO'd – not like I have a choice. At this point, it didn't even go back to the Fight menu, as the battle just continued without me. Also note that there were no animations at all for some reason. "PIKACHU used FLAIL!", which didn't do much damage despite his Level and boost as his health was maxed. "CELEBI used Perish Song!" Nothing happens as it was already used. "PIKACHU used FRUSTRATION!", which did a shit-ton of damage, knocking Celebi down to less than 10 HP. "CELEBI used Pain Split!", which surprised me as Celebi didn't even have that attack in the first place. Now Celebi and Pikachu have about 150 HP. "PIKACHU used MEAN LOOK!" Not like that did anything. As expected, due to the effects of Perish Song, my Celebi fainted. Except in the text, it said "CELEBI has died!" and instead of the ordinary drop off the screen animation, the CELEBI backsprite just vanished. For some reason, the Pikachu was still up even with Perish Song and it didn't count as my loss. Pikachu used one more different attack beyond the 5 attack limit: "PIKACHU used DESTINY BOND!" Afterwards, it said "PIKACHU has died!", with a slow fade-out animation. Apparently, I was the winner, as the transparent Red Sprite showed up and said ".........." At that point, I just freaked out, as that transparent Red sprite was suddenly beheaded, leaving nothing but his transparent body. The battle then ended at that point and faded out along with the music. I'm back in the overworld, with another change to the Gold sprite – he's now as transparent as Red's overworld sprite. I quickly checked Gold's profile, where this time the only thing remains of him is his head, with a transparent skin. The head was zoomed in a bit, showing a black void in his eyes. It now stated that he now has 40 badges. I then backed out and checked my Pokémon. They were all Level 20 Shiny Unown, which when spelled out, read "NOMORE". I was at what I now know is next to the end. There was apparently no music playing, but for some reason I still felt like something was there that could be heard. I was back in my room in New Bark Town. Maybe finally I get to play this game properly, but who am I kidding. I knew that sadistic fuck must have done something. I "walked" around my room to interact with things, as I'm a bit afraid to go down the stairs to see what was awaiting down there. Note I said "walked", as while the background was moving, Gold was not moving his transparent limbs at all while doing so, just floating like those ghosts you see in Diamond/Pearl. As expected, the radio, computer, and TV did not work, so I had no choice but to go down the stairs. I ended up in the same lower level room of my house. Everything appears normal, except mom isn't home. After failing to interact with anything in this room, I decided to go outside. To my surprise, that door leading outside at the south didn't work, and instead I just walk straight through it to a void. I continued moving south to see what the fuck was going on. My house vanishes as I head south into the void. It was creepy as when I entered the void, the outline on Gold's transparent sprite turned white to contrast with the pitch black. Eventually, I reached a white area and Gold's sprite turned black and transparent again. I continued south without thinking of stopping at all. After a long trek south, I finally encountered something. It was GOLD's regular sprite. I talked to it. He said "Good bye forever ...." (notably with a space inbetween the forever and ....), and vanished. As that happened, it said "??? used NIGHTMARE" which at that point, I would not deny that being possible. Gold did another Escape Rope animation spinning slowly downwards like before. I'm now back into that small hollowed-out room surrounded by graves earlier. Or at least I say I was back there, as there's no sprite anymore. I tried to walk around but nothing moved – not even wall bumping noise. I checked my trainer profile with absolutely no Gold sprite left. It said I have 0 badges and all the pictures of the Johto Gym Leaders at the bottom were replaced with skulls. I checked my Pokémon, which were all Level 25 Unown. As expected, it spelled out a phrase that I dared to read: "IMDEAD". As soon as I went back to the overworld, the room I supposedly was in was then covered with the same blocks as the walls. I then figured out what exactly that room was when the final text was said: "R.I.P. ..." That room was a big grave, surrounded by other graves. Gold has already been dead. He died presumably a few years after he defeated Red. He was a young trainer who, despite his efforts in collecting so many badges and attempts at becoming a Pokémon master, was still unable to avoid the inevitable fate of death, and his efforts were eventually forgotten by the next generation. I was unable to escape from that text no matter what I pressed. I tried resetting the game, and the same thing happened, at which I then finally decided to give up on that horrible nightmare. After that experience, I will never look at the "gimmick" Unown the same way again. They say that only the first generation have folk tales and legends, but the second generation have shown me how unpleasant the truth can be. I eventually enjoyed SoulSilver immensely, but I still can't unthink what that rigged game has told me.
