Born on Orax, Jenruax was one of the first Shard ever to leave his homeworld. A Force-sensitive, Jenruax was seduced by the Dark Side and became one of the first Shard Dark Jedi. He roamed the galaxy for over a century, before finally settling on Roon. There he replaced his first body - a 3PO-series protocol droid - with that of a FIII Footman Droid. He was replaced by Orrus de Sadd as head of the Covenant Academy in 2 ABY, but remained loyal to the Covenant. He continued to function as a teacher at the Academy, and was still the nominal leader - or Castellan - of the Blackguards.

He roamed the galaxy for over a century, before finally settling on Roon. There he replaced his first body - a 3PO-series protocol droid - with that of a FIII Footman Droid. In 14 BBY, he was contacted by Darth Obscurus, who offered him a new and better body in exchange for his loyalty. Jenruax agreed, and became the teacher and leader of the Blackguards - Dark Jedi in service of the Covenant. As promised, his body was replaced by a custom-made body, made of virtually indestructible Ultrachrome. He was replaced by Orrus de Sadd as head of the Covenant Academy in 2 ABY, but remained loyal to the Covenant. He continued to function as a teacher at the Academy, and was still the nominal leader - or Castellan - of the Blackguards. Many of the Covenant questioned the wisdom of Obscurus in giving Jenruax such impervious a body, as the Shard Blackguard would be a dangerous foe if he turned on the Covenant. So far, however, Jenruax had stayed loyal to the Dark Lord of the Sith. In 17 ABY, he was made head of the new Sith Academy on Ryloth, a position he was uniquely suited for. Shortly after, following the Battle of Taylon, he was given a new Ultrachrome body inspired by footage of Cylon Destroyers. After the formation of the Sith Enclave, he became a trainer at the Sith Academy on Lorn.
