| - Daisuke is the designated leader of the new Digidestined/Chosen Children; brash, cheerful, and energetic. He's also Taichi's Expy, to the point of wearing the former's trademark goggles. Although he's very much an underdog at first, he's about the only cast member who doesn't have mild-to-serious psychological issues. This emotional stability ends up being his greatest asset. He has a hopeless crush on Hikari, but gradually idolizes her less as time goes on. In the conclusion of 02, he becomes a noodle cart owner.
* Ain't Too Proud to Beg: "Please, master, spare my friends. Please, master, spare my worthless friends." (Not his words)
* Pose of Supplication
* All Love Is Unrequited: Has a huge crush on Hikari, but she never responds. Kinda disappears by the time Ken joins.
* Annoying Older Sibling: Played with. Jun and Daisuke both care about each other, but continually get on each other's nerves. This is partly because they're a lot alike.
* Badass Normal: He does toss away a Roachmon/Gokimon that attacks him.
* Big Eater: Par for the leaders, although V-mon eats even more.
* Big "Never!": When he tackles Ken in the digital world.
* Butt Monkey
* Character Shilling: Daisuke gets shilled several time over the course of the season for his growth in character despite having little to no character growth.
* Cross-Dressing Voices: Japanese and Chinese version only.
* Curtains Match the Window
* Defeat Means Friendship
* Determinator: Even though even he realizes how futile it is to fight BelialVamdemon, he and ExVeemon are determined to fight until the last anyway. Take note that while they were at it, the other Chosen Children were paralyzed by fear and caught in BelialVamdemon's Lotus Eater Machine, which Daisuke resisted through sheer determination and desire to end BelialVamdemon.
* Dragon Rider: Lighdramon can't fly, but XV-mon, Paildramon, and Imperialdramon all can. Lighdramon makes up for it by being lightning quick.
* Executive Meddling: Owes his very existence to this.
* And his lack of Character Development.
* Expy: To Taichi.
* Flat Character
* Get a Hold of Yourself, Man!: To Ken.
* Goggles Do Nothing: Had them even before Taichi gave him his own!
* Hey, You: Refers to Takeru as "omae" in the original due to jealousy of his relationship with Hikari; in the dub, this is rendered through Davis constantly messing up the initials of TK's name.
* Hidden Depths: Averted according to Word of God.
* Hopeless Suitor: Former Trope Namer.
* The Hero
* Rebel Leader: They're fighting an empire, after all.
* Hot-Blooded: Until Masaru came along, he was easily the most so of any Digimon protagonist.
* Hotblooded Sideburns: He's got 'em.
* Hot Paint Job: His Digiworld jacket, pictured above.
* Japanese Pronouns: Ore
* Jerk with a Heart of Gold
* Keet
* Kneel Before Zod
* Loves Me Not
* The Messiah
* Even more notable in that, as this DeviantArt points out, of all the animated goggle boys (up to Savers, at least), Daisuke is the only lead Tamer who managed to go a whole season without evolving his Digimon partner via dark emotions.
* Naive Newcomer
* The Power of Friendship
* Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red to Takeru, then later Ken's blue.
* Rookie Red Ranger
* Personality Powers
* Screw Learning, I Have Phlebotinum: The Crest of Kindness and subsequently the Digi-Egg/Digimental of Miracles that allowed Daisuke to "see Ken's true heart", well before the other children learn to trust Ken.
* Spotlight-Stealing Squad: Justified at first; however, it become more obvious when the other Chosen Children gain access to Ultimate/Perfect-level Digimon.
* Static Character: According to Word of God, Daisuke was made this way in order to be a foil of Ken, and the writers were barred from developing his character and so kept him out of situations that would force his development. Averted in the Digimon V-Tamer 01 manga.
* Shonen Hair
* Triang Relations: Type 3 or 4 (debatable)
* You Are Not Alone: Leads to a Crowning Moment of Heartwarming.
