Michael Dines was better known as a playwright of pieces such as Busy-Body and Out of the Darkness when he contributed 2 episodes of Coronation Street in February 1961. He also wrote two episodes of Z Cars in 1969 and was script associate on the 1961 drama Magnolia Street. The fact that few other works for film or television are recorded against his name indicates that this was not his preferred medium. He later turned to writing books such as I Said I Was Sorry and Abrams & Jones-Homicide.
