Masiello was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Contracting, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Acquisition), based at the Pentagon. She was responsible for all aspects of contracting relating to the acquisition of weapon systems, logistics, operational, and contingency support for the Air Force. She was promoted to Major General in December 2010. As of April 2012, the acting Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Acquisition) position is vacant.
